Albert Einstein (1879-1955) was a German-born theoretical physicist who is widely considered to be one of the most influential scientists of the 20th century. He is best known for his theory of relativity, which fundamentally altered our understanding of space, time, and gravity.
Einstein also made significant contributions to the development of quantum mechanics and statistical mechanics, and is credited with laying the groundwork for the development of the atomic bomb through his famous equation E=mc², which describes the relationship between energy and mass.
In addition to his scientific achievements, Einstein was also an outspoken pacifist, civil rights advocate, and humanitarian. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1921 for his work on theoretical physics, and his name has become synonymous with genius and intellectual curiosity.
